Why Am I Still Tired When My Labs Look “Normal”?

You know you don't feel like yourself. But the first round of testing hasn't explained why.

Persistent fatigue can be frustrating—especially when you've already had medical testing and have been told that everything looks “normal.”

But fatigue is a symptom, not a diagnosis.

Join Laurence E. Torpey, MD, an experienced Family Medicine physician in the Rochester, New York area, for a free live educational webinar exploring how a physician-led Functional Medicine approach can help organize the bigger picture.

What We'll Talk About

During this live presentation, Dr. Torpey will explain:

  • Why fatigue can have many different medical and lifestyle contributors
  • Why “normal” laboratory results can still leave important clinical questions unanswered
  • How sleep, nutrition, medications, metabolism, stress, and other factors may interact
  • Why a careful medical history can be as important as another laboratory test
  • What “root-cause evaluation” really means—and why there may be more than one contributor
  • Why more Functional Medicine testing is not automatically better testing
  • How traditional Family Medicine and Functional Medicine can complement one another
  • How an individualized plan can be built from the patient's history, physiology, priorities, and appropriate testing

Functional Medicine Built on a Medical Foundation

Dr. Torpey's approach does not ask patients to choose between traditional medicine and Functional Medicine.

His training in Family Medicine, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, medications, prevention, counseling, and the biopsychosocial model provides the medical foundation.

Functional Medicine adds another clinical lens:

Why might this be happening in this particular person?

That may mean looking more carefully at the patient's history, timeline, sleep, nutrition, medications, metabolic health, stress, environment, and other potentially contributing factors.

The goal is not to replace conventional medical care.

The goal is to combine good medicine with better questions.

Is This Webinar for You?

This presentation may be especially useful if you have been dealing with persistent:

Fatigue or low energy
Brain fog
Poor recovery
Weight or metabolic concerns
Digestive symptoms
Sleep problems
Overlapping chronic symptoms

—or if you simply want to understand what a thoughtful, physician-led Functional Medicine evaluation actually looks like.

You do not need to be a current patient to attend.

More Testing Isn't Always Better Testing

One of the topics Dr. Torpey will address is a common misconception about Functional Medicine:

Functional Medicine does not have to mean ordering thousands of dollars of laboratory tests.

A useful test should answer a clinical question.

Before ordering additional testing, Dr. Torpey asks:

What are we trying to understand?

Has this already been evaluated?

Will the result change what we do?

Sometimes specialized testing is appropriate.

Sometimes the most useful next step is a better history, review of existing records, an examination, attention to sleep or nutrition, or carefully selected conventional laboratory work.

The right test for the right patient—not testing for the sake of testing.
